Dallas CASA Court Appointed Special Advocates

Dallas CASA

Dallas CASA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and charter member of the National and Texas CASA associations, envisions safe and enriching childhoods for all children, appointing trained volunteer advocates to protect and support abused and neglected children in Dallas County’s protective care. Founded in 1979 as one of the first pilot programs inspired by a Seattle judge’s initiative, Dallas CASA ensures judges have critical information to make informed decisions, helping children achieve safe, permanent homes and break the cycle of abuse. In 2024, 1,009 volunteers advocated for 2,042 children, contributing to thousands finding stable homes since the program’s inception.

Dallas Children's Advocacy Center

Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center

The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) coordinates investigation, prosecution, and healing services for over 13,000 children annually in Dallas County who have suffered severe child abuse or witnessed violent crimes, housing key partners like the Dallas Police Department’s Child Abuse Unit, CPS, and a Dallas County Assistant District Attorney to enhance collaboration. DCAC’s forensic interviewers conduct non-leading, video-recorded interviews to reduce trauma and strengthen court cases, while family advocates guide non-offending family members through the judicial system, connecting them to evidence-based therapy and victim services that lower risks of substance abuse, domestic violence, criminal activity, mental health disorders, and self-harm.
