Cedar Springs Eye Clinic

Cedar Springs Eye Clinic is an inner-city satellite clinic affiliated with the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). This partnership, along with collaborations with Cedar Springs Vision (a 501(c)(3) organization) and the Dallas Housing Authority, enables the clinic to provide premium, full-scope optometric care, including comprehensive eye exams ($35), low-cost frames and lenses, pathology management, specialty contact lenses, and low vision services. Staffed by UHCO-trained optometrists and students, the clinic serves low-income individuals, offering reduced-cost or free care for eligible Dallas County residents.

American Glaucoma Society

American Glaucoma Society | AGS Cares

AGS Cares is a public service program supported by the AGS Foundation that provides surgical glaucoma care at no cost to uninsured or underserved patients who qualify for such care. The program connects such patients with volunteer surgeon that can provide the surgical and postoperative care you need.

To apply for surgical glaucoma care, find a doctor in your area. They’ll assess your condition and submit the application.

Eye Care America

EyeCare America | American Academy of Ophthalmology

EyeCare America is a public service program provided by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. It offers uninsured and underinsured individuals aged 18 and older access to no-cost medical eye exams conducted by ophthalmologists. The program aims to preserve sight and has been active for 40 years. It also engages volunteers to provide these services, encourages individuals to become ambassadors to promote eye health, and provides resources like brochures and FAQs for volunteers and patients. Patient testimonials highlight the program’s impact, such as providing peace of mind, restoring vision, and enabling people to enjoy daily activities and family life.

New Eyes

New Eyes is a non-profit organization founded in 1932 to provide new prescription eyeglasses and clear vision to over 500,000 financially struggling children and adults across the United States. New Eyes is a United Way Agency operate with a small staff and dedicated volunteers corps and are overseen by a Board of Trustees. Even though New Eyes office and Headquarters is located in Short Hills, NJ, they offer benefits to those in need in 35 states, including Texas.

Now Forward

Now-Forward, a Dallas-based nonprofit founded in 1983, provides emergency assistance to low-income families in Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Coppell, Addison, and Dallas (ZIP 75287). Services include:

  • Financial Aid: Temporary support for rent, utilities, and other essentials.
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Care: Low-cost or free medical and dental services through community partnerships.
  • Food & Clothing: Weekly food distributions (60–80 pounds per household) and clothing assistance.
  • Education: ESL classes and school supplies to promote stability.
  • Mental Health: Referrals to counseling services.

Prevent Blindness Texas is a leading nonprofit dedicated to preventing blindness and preserving sight. Serving Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Farmers Branch, and Dallas, Prevent Blindness Texas offers resources to ensure access to essential vision care.

What Prevent Blindness Texas Offers:

  • Free Vision Screenings: Access community-based screenings for children and adults to detect vision issues early.
  • Financial Assistance Resources: Connect with national programs like EyeCare America (free eye exams for seniors 65+), Vision USA (free exams for low-income, uninsured individuals), and InfantSEE (free eye assessments for infants 6-12 months).
